Splash coats were developed for those working their Dogs in water. For use before and after swimming, post bath, or traveling with a wet dog! They are also great for use as a winter/cold day coat.
A tremendous amount of thought went in to the planning and construction of the coat.
Many PWD owners that work their PWDs in water were consulted so that the design was functional and met the expressed needs:
1.Warmth without bulk
2.Water wicking capabilities
3.Freedom of movement for the dog
4. Ease of putting it on the dog
5.Adjustable for a wide range of sizes without being loose/sloppy
6.Since each coat is custom made for your dog, if you prefer a lower collar or even more length that can easily be done.
I chose Microfleece as the base material as it is known for its water wicking capabilities while being lighter and less bulky then traditional fleece or polar-tec fleece. The Chest piece has a highly absorbent core and a layer of PUL fabric built in. The absorbent core has the greatest holding capacity of liquid available on the market. The PUL (Polyurethane laminate) fabric is used to contain more water in the core. This four layer (Microfleece, Core Layer, PUL, Microfleece) design helps to absorb the water that tends to drain to the chest/stomach area of the dog so he is not laying in water or getting chilled. The remainder of the jacket is constructed of a double layer of Microfleece. A SUPER SPLASH Coat adds a thin layer of Stay Dry light weight absorbent material between the microfleece in the body of the coat. The high collar design wicks the water from the dog’s neck area. The design allows for a wide range of dog sizes and shapes being accommodated by the same size jacket. We offer three sizes, though other sizes can be made.
*I have made a few changes from the original coats: I have increased the length of the body of the coat by approximately 3 to 4 inches, coats come with a standard height collar (though I can do a shorter collar if requested)
Bindi modeling the Splash coat with a high collar. The left photo shows the purple chest piece that extends underneath as seen on the right photo of Quackers. This purple chest piece is where the Four layer (Microfleece, absorbent Core, PUL, and Microfleece are. When putting the Splash Coat on the dog you simply pull it over the dogs head and attach the integrated straps to the velcro located on the dog’s sides. This allows for infinite adjustment within the prescribed size range.
Coordinated Splash pad (ladybugs) and Splash Coat (flowers)
Please note that the coats WILL be baggier on a dog that is at the bottom of the weight range. For that reason, some people like to get the smaller coat for even a 50-55 pound dog.
